Broadcasters Promote Cancer Screening During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

With a wide reach, trusted on-air personalities and access to local experts, America’s radio and TV stations are uniquely positioned to share important public health information with their communities. This October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and year-round, broadcast stations have connected their audiences with information, community leaders and special events to highlight the importance of cancer screening.

At America’s Stories, read some examples of local broadcasters’ work to raise awareness and funds for cancer prevention.

“I never want another person to go through what my dad did or a family member to watch their loved ones fight this horrible disease,” said Denise Plante from Denver’s 106.7 The Bull about her charitable work to fight cancer. “I will continue to help support research until a cure is found.”
