Local Broadcasters Bring America 250 to Life

As America marks its 250th anniversary, local television and radio broadcasters are helping communities celebrate the people, places and traditions that define our nation. From hometown museums and historic landmarks to local festivals and community heroes, broadcasters are connecting audiences to the stories that make American history personal.

Across the country, local stations are bringing that spirit to their own communities. Broadcasters are partnering with America250 and community organizations to connect audiences through music, storytelling and local history. From Beasley Media Group’s nationwide Community of Caring initiative to Gray Media’s “We the People” series, stations are reminding audiences that America’s story has always been told one community at a time.

The Walt Disney Company marked America250 with a 24-hour, multiplatform ABC News broadcast led by World News Tonight anchor David Muir. Featuring stories from all 50 states, the initiative highlights the people, places and traditions that make each community unique while weaving them into the broader American story.

For generations, local broadcasters have documented the defining moments that shape our nation. As we celebrate 250 years, they continue that tradition by preserving local history, celebrating community voices and ensuring America’s story remains vibrant for the next generation.
