NAB continues to provide members with tips and tools to develop and execute diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategies within their organizations. In November, NAB brought together DEI and broadcast management experts for the first Diversity Symposium. The two-day educational event was designed to provide insight and best practices for broadcast organizations pursuing DEI strategies and embracing diversity in media and the workplace.

This symposium is now on-demand, free to NAB members and available for nonmembers to purchase the full symposium or individual sessions.

Hear from current broadcast leaders and DEI experts as they share their expertise, tools and experience on how to build corporate DEI programs, including Business and Employee Resource Groups. You will also hear from broadcast leaders with multicultural backgrounds share their journeys into leadership position and the importance of creating a culture of belonging and inclusion in the workplace.

DEI efforts continue to be a priority for many broadcasters as they look to retain diverse talent, build stronger ties to the communities they serve and encourage the innovation that comes with having a multifaceted workforce.

“It’s not only the right thing to do, it’s also a business imperative for our industry,” said Michele Laven, chief diversity officer and chief human resources officer, iHeartMedia, and chair of the NAB DEI Board Advisory Committee on the importance of making DEI a priority in the workplace. “We have to be able to reflect the voices of the consumers that we serve. And that’s in every aspect of our business – from marketing, sales, programming, HR – there has to be representation in our business.”

NAB will continue to offer members resources and information to enhance their efforts and build out effective strategies. The next Diversity Symposium will be held at the NAB Show in April 2022.
