NAB Introduces Guide to Disaster Planning for First Informers

Television and radio stations play a unique role as first informers during disasters, providing breaking news alerts and round-the-clock reporting to keep their communities safe before, during and after emergencies. Given the resiliency of the broadcast infrastructure, local TV and radio stations are often the only communications outlet available during disasters, especially when cell service or the internet go down.

As we head into hurricane season, now is a key time to review your station’s disaster readiness. To help broadcasters plan ahead in case of an emergency, NAB has produced a new guide, 10 Steps to Disaster Preparation and Recovery. These steps will help you stay on the air during disasters.  The document provides a useful roadmap as you periodically review and test your emergency preparedness plans.
